Weston-super-Mare AFC 2023/2024 Season Academy trials
On the W/C 5th and 12th of June 2023, Weston-super-Mare AFC Academy will be hosting trials for our age groups U16s to U8s at the Weston-super-Mare AFC Optima Stadium 3G Astro Turf.
There will be a 2 Stage Trial Process, with the first stage being a Training Session. The Manager of the relevant age group will be using The FA 4 Corner Model, to identify the Technical, Tactical, Social and Psychological qualities of each player. The second stage of the trial will be a Match Based Session, where the Manager of the relevant age will again, be looking for qualities that match the standard of Weston-super-Mare AFC Academy.
The Club's philosophy is to develop players within our academy and nurture them into 1st Team Regulars. The academy has 3 phases of progression:
The Foundation Phase is Headed by Matt Bazell and covers the U7s - U12s
The Development Phase is Headed by Craig Graham and covers the U13s - U16s
The Senior Phase is Headed by Mark McKeever and covers the U16s - U19s
Players are closely monitored and supported during the season by the Coaches and Heads of Phase, to ensure they are continually progressing and developing along our Academy Pathway. As an Academy, we compete in the Junior Premier League. The JPL provides an excellent step up from Grassroots football, and helps bridge the gap with Professional Football Academies.

U16s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Tuesday 6th June 2023 at 6:00pm
- 2nd Trial will be held on Saturday 10th June 2023
U15s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Tuesday 6th June 2023 at 5:00pm
- 2nd Trial will be held on Saturday 10th June 2023
U14s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Monday 5th June 2023 at 7:00pm
- 2nd Trial will be held on Saturday 10th June 2023
U13s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Monday 5th June 2023 at 7:00pm
- 2nd Trial will be held on Saturday 10th June 2023
U12s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Monday 12th June 2023 at 6:00pm
- 2nd Trial will be held on Saturday 17th June 2023
U11s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Monday 12th June 2023 at 6:00pm
- 2nd Trial will be held on Saturday 17th June 2023
U10s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Monday 12th June 2023 at 5:00pm
- 2nd Trial will be held on Saturday 17th June 2023
U9s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Monday 12th June 2023 at 5:00pm
- 2nd Trial will be held on Saturday 17th June 2023
U8s/U7s:
- 1st Trial will be held on Friday 8th June 2023 at 5:00pm
