Weston-super-Mare AFC - 2024/2025 Season Academy Trials
Following the success of the 2023/2024 Season’s Trials, Weston-super-Mare AFC has decided to offer young and aspiring footballers the opportunity to join our Academy Squads for the 2024/2025 Season.
Over the course of the 2023/2024 Season, our Academy teams have performed and developed with our coaching philosophy. Within our Academy, we have age groups who are League Winners, Cup Semi-Finalists and progressed to the Junior Premier League Nationals. Our goal at Weston-super-Mare AFC is for players to progress through our Coaching Pathway, understanding the Weston Way to eventually step out on the first team pitch as a member of our 1st Team Squad, who play in Step 6 of the English Footballing Pyramid, the National League South.
Weston-super-Mare AFC’s academy, will continue to play in the highest level of football outside of professional academies in the Junior Premier League for the 2024/2025 Season. Offering players a chance to play in a challenging and developmental league at such a crucial age for their footballing career.
The 3-Stage Trial Process explained:
Trial 1: Group Training Session, allowing coaches to review and assess all players.
Trial 2: Group Training Session, with the nerves gone the players can truly flourish and show the coaching staff their ability.
Trial 3: Trial Game vs Existing Academy Players, providing players with the challenge of playing with and against our existing academy players for them to showcase their ability and prove why they should be offered a place.
Our trials will be hosted W/c 3rd, 10th and 17th June 2024. Throughout the trials, the coaching staff will speak with some players individually to discuss their progress and suitability for the following stages.
Weston-super-Mare AFC has dedicated Goalkeeper Sessions throughout the season and would like to include this opportunity in this year’s trials. Our Goalkeeper Coaches will be putting on a Foundation Phase (U10s - U12s) and Development Phase (U13s - U16s) session to enable trialist trial session dedicated to them and enable them to enhance and show their ability in a Goalkeeper Specific Trial.
